Along with a fixed utility compartment, it has full-width fridge/freezer fixed door storage and is ADA compliant. The unit also features humidity-controlled crispers, meant to keep fruits and vegetables fresh, and room for an optional ice maker. Temperature controls are mounted near the front for easy access and an automatic defrost system allows for better freezer maintenance. The similar Whirlpool W8XEGMWS model comes with an ice maker and 3 spill containing shelves, but has only a 17.5 cu. ft. capacity, 1.5 cu. ft. smaller than the W9 model.
