The Vado HD 3rd-Gen is a digital pocket camcorder released in December 2009 as a successor to the HD 2nd-Gen. Although most of the specifications — such as 720p video capture, a 2x digital zoom, and RCA/HDMI outputs for connecting to a composite- or HDMI-compatible television set — remain the same, Creative has guaranteed improved low/bright-light video recording with manual exposure adjustments; an enhanced motion detection mode that records as soon as any motion is detected; support for an external microphone and headphone; and the option to capture still photos.

Surprisingly, the 3rd-Gen Vado does however boast a drop in storage capacity from 8GB to 4GB. Included also is Vado Central 3.0, a proprietary software that allows users to playback, edit, and take snapshots of their videos.

Community website (myvado.com) requires a product serial number (a sticker on the external box) to register the camera or even to ask Customer Service an email question. DON'T throw out the outer box!

Slick outer casing makes it easy to drop the camera.
