Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401

The Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401 is a higher-end, 14.1" business notebook computer. It costs about $150 more than the R10-S4421 and differs in several ways. It utilizes a slightly slower, 2.26GHz dual-core CPU and features less storage capacity, but adds a gigabyte of RAM, a 64-bit OS option (Vista, however, not Windows 7), and 128 MB of discrete graphics memory, in the form of the Nvidia Quadro NVS 150M.

It is designed for mobile corporate users – other features include a fingerprint reader and remote management capability – who require modest graphics functionality. Graphics professionals would likely find this notebook's graphics card inadequate. Standard connectivity includes Bluetooth, wireless-N, and eSATA. LED backlighting and energy-saving software help the S4401 qualify for Energy Star and extend its battery life to close to 5.5 hours. Through 2009-2010, the 14" M11 Series has superseded the R10 models in the Tecra line.
