The Toshiba Satellite U500 is a mid-range lightweight laptop that is designed for portability. The laptop has a 13.3" LED-backlit display with Toshiba's TruBrite technology.

It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM and an up to 400GB hard drive. The laptop also offers a high capacity Li-Ion battery that provides up to 8 hours of battery life. The Satellite U500 is designed with a slot-loading DVD SuperMulti drive, integrated stereo speakers, and a hard drive impact sensor to protect the storage. It also has a built-in webcam and microphone and can be configured to include Bluetooth connectivity. The laptop operates on Windows Vista Home Premium and offers a variety of inputs including a PC-Express slot, memory card reader, and optional HDMI and SPDIF ports. The Satellite U500 comes in a textured luxe brown, luxe white, or luxe pink finish and has a 1 year limited warranty.
