The Connect allows users to use Globalstar's satellite network ($99/mo). The device is primarily designed with social functions in mind, it's list of features include: the ability for others to track your location via Google Maps, send custom pre-written location based messages via SMS or email, and to be able to send updates to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Along with the social capabilities the SPOT Connect and Globalstar's service also provides SOS/emergency alerts with a dedicated on-device SOS button.
