Sony XAV-70BT

$750.00 Released April, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Surround sound audio quality with simulated center channel. Sound quality up to audiophile standards, even good through stock speakers. Bluetooth is built in, and pairs with iPhone for full hands-free talk, contacts list access and music streaming.

The Cons:Sirius and HD radio is limited to one line of text displayed. IPod interface is very slow, long read time before it responds to commands. When using Bluetooth, if an incoming call is rejected it does not go back to what was being played.

The Sony XAV-70BT is one of two in-dash A/V head units (XAV-60, XAV-70BT) released in spring 2010. As an upgrade, the unit adds along Bluetooth wireless technology with HFP, A2DP, and AVRCP, thereby allowing for hand-free calling and wireless music streaming.

Plus it hosts a larger 7” WVGA motorized and touchscreen display panel with an improved GUI with larger buttons, an easier-to-use menu, and a simplified playback screen that lists all song metadata and album artwork. Like its weaker sibling, the XAV-70BT relies on an abundance of input options, including a single-disc slot for playing DVDs or CDs, a USB interface for listening to a digital music player, Satellite/HD Radio compatibility, rear view camera / parking break compatibility, and iPod/iPhone compatibility.
