The Sony BDP-S480 is a lower mid-cost Blu-Ray player. This Blu-Ray player has a Media Remote feature, which allows you to use your iPhone or iPod touch as the remote control. The BDP-S480 offers full HD (1080p) playback, and besides Blu-Ray discs can play DVDs, CDs, and SACDs.

With the front USB port, you can also view photos and play music and video from external devices. The BRAVIA Internet Video platform allows you access to sites like Netflix, Pandora, HuluPlus and Amazon Video on Demand. The BDP-S480's BD-LIVE functionality allows you to access extra Blu-Ray features like online chats and extra scenes. The Entertainment Database Browser uses Gracenote technologies to allow you to browse details like actor and production information. This Blu-Ray player is WiFi ready, with the USB wireless LAN adapter sold separately. This model differs from the lower cost BDP-S380 model in that it is DLNA certified (and so can be connected to other DLNA devices), and is HomeShare WiFi Network Speaker compatible. This model differs from the higher cost BDP-SD580 in that the BDP-SD580 has IP Content Noise Reduction (which helps to ensure an undistorted viewing experience), as well as WiFi 802.11n built in (with a WiFi Protected Setup). The Sony BDP-S480 Blu-Ray player features quick start and loading.
