By eliminating backplay, the Super Stopper II anti-reverse one-way bearing helps the operation of this reel to be smooth. The Propulsion Line Management System of this reel utilizes a spool lip design that provides longer casting distances while cutting out backlash, which also contributes to the smooth factor. On the durability side of things, the Shimano Solstace 2500 FI is equipped with a cold forged aluminum spool.

will last for years with proper care, durably constructed
drag system is smooth, lets the line out just right without any jerky motion
casting is very easy, don't have to fight against the reel for a good long cast
good for both freshwater and can stand up to saltwater (as long as you rinse it quickly at the end of the day)
good value for the price, performs like a more expensive reel
good resistance to line tangling, usually pretty hard to tangle it
