Samsung PN58C550
$2,000.00
Released May, 2010
The Pros:Little to no audible buzzing - a fairly rare feature amongst larger plasma TVs. Stock picture quality is excellent - overall depth and clarity outperforms similar units from LG and Panasonic that opt for a feature-centric design. USB connectivity is fast and reliable - instantly calls up picture, video and music content from a flash or hard drive.
The Cons:Feature set is fairly minimal as compared to other models at the price point - lacks web widgets and auto-adjust features. Subtitles cannot be viewed when the television is muted - frustrating for users who watch programs with little to no audio level who are used to this feature. Built-in speakers are very quiet - complete lack of bass makes it difficult to enjoy music and hear spoken-word dialogue.
The Samsung PN58C550 is a high-end 58" 1080p plasma HDTV with Energy Star certification. Its 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio provides a greater overall picture by allowing for darker blacks and brighter whites while its 600Hz refresh rate provides unrivaled image clarity during even fast action scenes.

Additionally, the PN58C550's Wide Colour Enhancer 2 technology provides it with greatly improved colour reproduction.
The PN58C550's 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio allows for richer, more full colour reproduction and greater overall image clarity by allowing for darker blacks and brighter whites. Its 600Hz refresh rate provides the PN58C550 with extreme image clarity as each image is displayed 600 times per second: ten times that of a typical HD television set. Meanwhile, the PN58C550's Wide Colour Enhancer 2 technology allows for greater colour depth, particularly amongst greens and blues which tend to get washed out more easily.
