The Galaxy Nexus is a touchscreen smartphone from the Samsung company. Developed in conjunction with Google, this model runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and features a large 4.65-inch Super AMOLED 720p display (1280x720).

Available in 16GB and 32GB storage capacities, the phone packs a 1.2GB dual-core processor as well as high speed LTE or HSDPA+ connectivity (depends on carrier and region). A 5-megapixel digital camera is included that offers 1080p HD video capture and automatic panorama stills, with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing component for videoconferencing via Skype or Google Talk. Offering a cutting-edge alternative to numeric-based password systems, the Nexus incorporates "Face Unlock" technology that enables the user to access their handset by simply looking into the front camera lens. Files, links, directions, applications and more can be shared between two NFC (near field communication) radio equipped devices running Android 4.0 via "Android Beam", offering instant file sharing by simply touching the two units together. Native support of the Google+ social networking client is available in addition to all other Google Mobile Services, including YouTube, Gmail, Google Chat and the classic Google Search. Text-based communication is greatly simplified through voice-to-text capabilities, triggered through a single prompt for true simplicity.

Uses subpixels to cram in a super high resolution display ("PenTile matrix"): fewer "true" pixels than on LCDs. Probably not noticeable, though.

#samsung_galaxy_nexus the 'outdated GPU' part is actually a positive thing for me: I own a Samsung Galaxy S ("Captivate"), which uses Samsung's Hummingbird CPU (also SGX540 GPU), and I have CyanogenMod 7.1 (Android 2.3.7) running on it. The CyanogenMod team is already working on bringing Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) to devices. Android 4.0 *finally* adds GPU-acceleration to the user interface, which will make it super smooth and efficient. Because the Galaxy Nexus and my phone use the same GPU I expect to get the best and earliest results of their work on my phone!!
