Samsung BD-D6700
$239.99
Released July, 2011
The Pros:Really fast performance--loads up discs with minimal wait. Sleek, lightweight design with a solid brushed aluminum finish. 2 HDMI 1.4 outputs--allows you to connect to your AV receiver and directly to your TV simultaneously, eliminating the need to upgrade your receiver to view 3D media.
The Cons:No disc memory--doesn't remember where you left off in any given movie, something that is usually standard. Remote isn't backlit--a standard feature for most Blu-ray players in this price range. Very high price point - hard to justify next to the PS3.
The Samsung BD-D6700 is a midrange Wi-Fi Blu-ray player released in early 2011 alongside the weaker BD-D6500. It offers 3D Blu-ray playback like its peer, but it adds along 2D-to-3D upconversion. Plus it offers twin HDMI v1.4 outputs that can deliver both 3D and 7.1-channel surround sound through legacy A/V receivers.

Like its counterpart, the Samsung BD-D6700 centers around Samsung Apps and Smart Hub technology.
