QNAP TS-659

$1,200.00 Released January, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Memory can be easily upgraded down the road as needed. Fairly low price for this much hardware, good value. Runs very quiet, barely noticeable even with 6 drives spinning.

The Cons:Big and bulky design, takes up a lot of space.

The QNAP TS-659 is a network storage device intended to be used as a data storage unit that can share access with several connected computers. The device stores files that can then be shared to multiple systems connected to it via LAN instead of storing a copy of each file locally on each individual's hard drive.

Shared files can also be updated automatically for all system's at once, independent of one specific computer being up and running at the time. Additionally, the device can also serve as a connection hub for multiple printers, a file back-up drive to prevent data loss, and a web server. The QNAP TS-659 can hold up to six hard drives in a load and lockable tray, and utilizes an Intel Atom 1.66Ghz Processor with 1GB RAM for fast data read and write times. An LCD display is used to communication system information, connection and hard drive status, and serves as an interface with the device. Hard drives are not included with this system and must be purchased separately.
