The Panasonic Lumix DMC-S3 is a compact digital camera designed to handle all internal settings automatically, enabling simple point-and-shoot functionality in a stylish and small package. This is similar to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-S1, but has a more sensitive 14.1 megapixel sensor, digital red-eye correction, an 8.4x digital zoom, and a built-in memory of 70MB.

They are otherwise the same, with iA Mode automatically detecting the correct scene mode, setting the MEGA O.I.S. to account for camera shake, adjusting for moving subjects, and using face detection to set focus properly. The lens is capable of wide-angle 28mm shots, and uses a 4x optical zoom. Video can also be shot in 720p HD at 30fps, and can be viewed on the 2.7 inch LCD screen.

Limited noise and colour desaturation starting to appear at ISO 400. ISO 800: quite visible noise, smearing of fine detail and colour desaturation, and ISO 1600 is even noisier
