Nikon Coolpix S4100

$179.95 Released March, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Lightweight, compact design is highly portable - great for travelling/on-the-go users. Camera is sleek and modern in appearance - color options are tasteful and original.

The Cons:Prone to several "time-to-shoot" issues - several seconds are required between shooting still photos with flash and videos that can be very frustrating. Several users report charging issues - unit cannot attain a full charge or will not charge at all, sometimes within months or even weeks from purchase. HD video recording is fairly poor quality - supposed 720p content may appear grainy and pixelated on playback.

The Nikon Coolpix S4100 is a lower mid-cost digital camera. The CCD image sensor of this camera runs at fourteen megapixels, which means that you can make poster sized 330dpi prints of images taken on the Coolpix S4100.

Where to Buy

Though this sensor is powerful for a camera in this price range, it is not at the level of the higher cost Coolpix S6100's sixteen megapixel sensor. Another way in which these two models differ is in the power of their optical zoom. While the S4100 sports a 5x optical zoom, the S6100 has a 7x optical zoom, which will provide more detailed subjects from afar. A feature shared by both the S4100 and the S6100 is the ability to record 720p HD video, with stereo sound, at the touch of a button.
