Nikon's high-speed CMOS image sensor helps to minimize autofocus times for spontaneous shooting and high-risk environments, with 10 frames-per-second speeds and a 73-point AF array further maximizing responsiveness. Frame-by-frame, stop-motion-style photos are made possible via "Motion Snapshot" mode, providing rapid-fire image capture with a single touch-and-hold prompt. The 1 J1 also features full 1080p HD video capture, with simultaneous still photo support for capturing stand-out frames without stopping recording. Using the Smart Photo feature, users can perform an intelligent scan-through of all photographs stored on the camera at a give time, identifying shots that may be blurry, off-center, involve blinking subjects or otherwise unusable.
