The Pros:Setup is easy enough for complete novices. Great bandwidth most of the time, very fast connection speeds. Good range of security options built-in, don't need any other devices.
The Cons:Any advanced features or custom setups are very tricky. Not completely compatible with all ADSL networks, may tend to drop connection. Limited range, won't work from far away.
The Netgear DGN1000 is an N150 wireless ADSL2+ modem/router designed to replace existing equipment provided by DSL service providers such as Verizon, AT&T, Qwest, and Earthlink. It can take their signals and then distribute them via four 10/100 Ethernet ports and 2.4GHz 802.11b/g wireless.

Included with the device is an ADSL2+ filter that converts the phone signal into one that is compatible with the N150 modem/router. Note however that the DGN1000 does host some 802.11N functionality, meaning improved data transfer speeds—such as those required for multiplayer gaming and Internet video streaming. The key benefit to using the Netgear DGN1000 is that it’s cheaper than the price of a regular modem and router set provided by DSL companies.
