MSi GT640

Released October, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Respectable 16:10 display resolution of 1680 x 1050px. Two year warranty. Full number pad.

The Cons:Claim of 'most powerful gaming laptop in the world' is dumb, and obviously not true. Number pad offsets the keyboard and trackpad - not centered. Poor for mobile computing - like most gaming laptops it will have poor battery life, heavy weight.

The MSi GT640 is an Intel Calpella-based notebook released by MSi in late 2009. It was touted as the worlds most advanced gaming notebook upon its release, as it combined the recently released Intel Core i7 processor with Window’s latest operating system Windows 7.

Product Shot 2 Included also is a large 15.4” (1680x1050) monitor, an nVidia GeForce GTS 250 graphics card, and 7.1-channel audio. And what with the GT640’s additional multimedia features — including a built-in DVD player and HDMI output — the MSi GT640 is essentially a full-fledged entertainment machine easily capable of processing and/or transmitting both high-definition video and audio content. And it doesn't disappoint on the outside either, as it incorporates a sophisticated aluminum alloy construction with a colorful brushed metal texturing.

Additional Information

The MSi GT640 also features  MSI’s proprietary ECO Engine, an innovative power-saving solution that automatically customizes the notebook’s power settings to suit the user’s precise needs. Additional features include up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 500GB of storage space; a 2MP webcam; 802.11b/g/n connectivity; and an eSATA input.
