Martin DXK2
$669.00
Released January, 2010
The Pros:Good mid and high-range sound outputting - reduced bass range is ideal for live/miked situations. Mock-ebony fretboard is soft and forgiving - suitable option for newcomers who have yet to develop protective calluses. Koa patterning masks scrapes and scratches - maintains a pristine aesthetic over time.
The Cons:Materials and overall build quality don't live up to the classic Martin name - similarly priced models from Fender and Yamaha are just as good, if not better. Lacks onboard tuning/pickup functions - not recommended for amateur live performances that lack a qualified sound engineer. Not recommended for heavier pick players - lack of pick-guard makes guitar prone to scratching and further damage.
The Martin DXK2 is an acoustic guitar that's a top-end model because it's designed with class and constructed out of durable materials that improve sound and quality. With a 14-fret body style, the guitar has a Hawaiian Koa HPL Pattern Textured Finish top, a Koa Wood Pattern HPL headplate and Koa Wood Pattern HPL Textured Finish back and sides.
