It is a step up from the KDC-BT645U, equipped with a more advanced, 5-line LCD and 4V rather than 2.5V preamp outputs. It also features more iPod search functionality. Like most of Kenwood's lineup, the KDC-BT945U supports USB Direct Connect for iPod and iPhone, which aims to ensure easy operation of a connected MP3 player within the receiver's interface. The receiver also plays CDs and AM/FM radio, but separately purchased accessories are required for HD or satellite radio support.
