Homefront

$59.99 Released March, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Cool story with a good amount of back-story accessible through scattered newspaper clippings - a unified Korea invades the USA in 2027. Available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and OnLive. Fun online multiplayer element - well flushed out.

The Cons:Short campaign with abrupt ending - ~5 hours in length. Not much of a looker compared to current top FPS games. No interesting gameplay mechanics - simple FPS.

Homefront is a first person shooter (FPS) released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, Playtation 3, and OnLive in spring 2011. It tells an apocalyptic tale of the United States, in which the U.S. is under attack by Korea.

Since players are defending their turf instead of infringing on other people’s lands, the game differs from others combat games in that there are no large fields and huge battlements. Instead the game is played in quaint cul-de-sacs, survivalist compounds, and abandoned warehouses. Unfortunately, Homefront doesn’t veer far from the status quo in regard to gameplay. The same elements as always pop up: aiming and shooting, throwing grenades, and murdering people left and right. However, there are two multiplayer modes (Co-Op, Deathmatch), vehicles to drive (Humvees, helicopters), and an RPG-like leveling system tied to what are known as Battle Points (BPs).
