It is the most basic of the 2011 eTrex series, and features a black and white display with a relatively low price point compared to the other models (the 20 and 30).

Its display is readable in sunlight and it has a pre-loaded worldwide map with geocaching capabilities. Geocache GDX files can be uploaded directly via USB to the handset, which reduces the need for printouts or manually entering any co-ordinates. This model has a yellow faceplate and durable black body with rubber side grips. This is an entry-level model marketed towards those interested in beginning geocaching as a hobby. The eTrex 10 as well as the 20 and 30 have improved battery life over older eTrex models, with usage time lasting up to 25 hours.
