Dragon Snail by Salvador Preciado Tattoo Art Canvas Print

$65.00 Released January, 2012

Salvador Preciado has long loved the art of the tattoo but also spent many years rolling down his sleeves to cover his tattooed arms for fear of offending his grandfather and other family members. He is the owner of El Classico Tattoo and Art Studio in Echo Park, California.

Tattoo artist Preciado says: We are like surgeons. There is no messing up.In Kazakhstan, an animal cycle similar to the Chinese Zodiac is used, but the dragon is substituted by a snail and the tiger a leopard. The snail symbolises self-suffiency (because it carries its home on its back), protection, steadiness, patience, stability, and perserverance. Additionally, the spiral of the snail's shell is a symbol of eternity, evolution, expansion, mystery, and the cyclical nature of things. The animal you see here is a mythological creature known as a chimera.
