Dolphin
Released January, 2010
The Pros:Good game support. Able to output games in high resolution. Good support for lots of computers.
The Cons:Requires a fairly powerful computer to run games at full speed. Some features currently rudimentary.
Originally launched somewhat unsuccessfully as a Gamecube emulator in 2003, Dolphin was resurrected in 2008 as an open source project which then progressed rapidly towards goals of Wii and Gamecube emulation.
Currently, the emulator has support of almost all Wii and Gamecube games, as well as many other features such as netplay, Action Replay support and basic recording features. It also has the ability to output games in high resolutions that are not possible with the actual console play. The emulator is frequently updated by a large community of developers.
