Anyone tracking users with the inReach will see a shared map that logs progress of a hike or climb, which can be updated manually, or automatically at regular set intervals. For an added sense of security, the inReach is also capable of sending an SOS at specified intervals, and will also provide confirmation when the signal is received and help is on the way. Text messages are confined to 160 characters, and can also be posted directly to Twitter or Facebook.
