Dell 1250c
$230.00
Released September, 2010
The Pros:Very affordable pricing for high-speed color prints (using LED). Above-average print speed for graphics and photos. Very low maintenance, only consumable items are the toners, unlike inkjet color heads and cartridges.
The Cons:Printer lacks ethernet port or network support, can be found on similar printers in this price range. Highly expensive per-page costs of use due to LED toner price. Awkward user input uses flashing lights at different speeds, sometimes hard to determine meaning.
The Dell 1250c is a personal printer that uses LED technology instead of laser and can print up to 10 color pages per minute. Named the world's smallest color laser-class printer by Dell, it is part of a line up of personal and small office printers and is followed by the 1350cnw LED printer and the 2150cdn laser printer.
As opposed to laser printing, which uses a single light source to scan the photoconductor drum, LED printing uses a page-width strip of high intensity lights that flash on and off making the process faster and more efficient, although with not quite the same resolution depth as laser. It also makes possible for a smaller design as is the case with the compact 24 pound 1250c. Duplexing ie printing on both sides of the page can be done manually and the input tray holds 150 pages, while toner cartridges can be access from the side. A single USB client port lets you connect to a Windows or Mac computer running a range of operating systems as listed below.
