D-Link DHP-1320

$129.99 Released January, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Internal power adapter - no bulky adapter to take up multiple wall sockets, create an eye sore. Easy to use CD-based setup wizard. Web-based interface is well designed, offers more features than the setup wizard.

The Cons:Wired ports are not Gigabit (the latest and fastest standard). Only supports the 200Mbps HomePlug AV PowerLine standard - rather than the latest 500Mbps standard. Not dual-band - only transmits over the older, more crowded 2.4GHz band.

The D-Link DHP-1320 is a powerline adapter that includes WiFi support. Standard 802.11g/n WiFi is supported at speeds of up to 300Mbps, and wired connections can be made through the household electrical wiring system at speeds of up to 200Mbps.

The design allows for quick automatic setup through the use of a PowerLine Sync Connection button to establish connections over the electrical system and a Wi-Fi Protected Setup button for WiFi setup. Built-in QoS ensures that multiple streams can run simultaneously across the network without interrupting each other. Security is handled through WPA or WPA2 security protocols, and encryption is handled through 128-bit AES.
