Coby SNAPP CAM3001

$30.00 Released January, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:A step-up from most cell phone camcorders at a minimal cost to the user. Accepts common AA batteries - users don't have to worry about recharging between shoots. Includes everything needed to share video online - camera, editing software and a YouTube uploader.

The Cons:Screen is subject to glare - it can be difficult to navigate menus outside. Poor build quality - construction is similar to toy cameras. Low resolution video recording - doesn't look great when played on HDTVs.

The Coby SNAPP CAM3001 is a low-end camcorder replacing the CAM3000 at the bottom of Coby's lineup. Mostly notable for its pocket-sized form factor, it shoots video at 30 fps and resolutions up to 640x480.

Coby's more costly SNAPP models offer larger screen sizes and resolutions, while the CAM3001 is limited by a 1.44" LCD and 1.3MP sensor. It offers, essentially, a minimal step up from cell phone camera quality. The camcorder supports memory expansion via SD/SDHC card for over two hours of recording time, but battery life is limited to 1.5 hours. Included software allows videos to be edited and uploaded to YouTube on a PC.
