Clearwire Spot 4G

The Clearwire Spot 4G is one of two 4G WiMAX portable hotspots (4G, 4G+) released in July 2010. Both units offer ultra-fast 4G connectivity to up to eight WiFi capable electronic devices (laptops, smartphones and portable gaming consoles) within a range of 150 ft.

In particular, the Spot 4G only works in parts of the country that offer Clearwire’s 4G connectivity. Some highlights include a very compact and lightweight design (so much so that it can be tucked into one’s pocket), a rechargeable battery that can run for 4 hours without AC power, and password-protected restrictions on usage. The Clearwire Spot 4G is available for $99.99 (or $4.99/month rental), but the service costs begin at $40/month.
