Clearwire Spot 4G+ (plus)

$225.00 Released July, 2010

Product Shot 1The Clearwire Spot 4G+ (plus) is one of two 4G WiMAX portable hotspots (4G, 4G+) released in July 2010. As the superior and more expensive model, the 4G+ automatically switches from 4G and connects to Sprint’s 3G nationwide network as soon as it’s taken outside of the 4G coverage area.

Unfortunately, this added network capacity means that only five (versus eight) WiFi capable electronic devices (laptops, smartphones, and portable gaming consoles) can be connected. In addition, the battery is limited to just three (versus four) hours of continuous power. Like its counterpart, however, the Clearwire Spot 4G+ (plus) is small enough to fit in a pocket. It’s available for $224.99 (or $5.99/month rental), but the service costs begin at $55/month.
