The PowerShot A490 is an entry-level point and shoot digital camera from Canon. Announced at CES 2010 in Las Vegas, this camera is the successor to Canon’s PowerShot A480. The updated A490 features a 10 megapixel image sensor, 3.3x optical zoom and face detection technology.

These features enable clear, blur-free images to be taken by the average user. Those who don’t want to constantly adjust settings will likely make use of the Smart Auto with Scene Detection technology, which will apply the best settings automatically based on 11 different scene presets. Other notable features include a YouTube uploading tool in the supplied software package and SDHC/SDXC memory card compatibility. Photographs can be reviewed on the 2.5-inch LCD screen. The Canon PowerShot A490 will be released in February, 2010.
