ASRock G31M-S
$45.00
Released June, 2010
The Pros:Very inexpensive upgrade board for older socket CPUs. Easy installation, clear and detailed instruction manual. Maximum 8GB of RAM is good for this price.
The Cons:Difficult memory overclocking interface, requires significant technical knowledge. Compact format and layout means that larger PCI-E video cards will cover up some SATA ports.
The ASRock G31M-S is a low-end motherboard. It is designed to be the base for all major PC components. It features ASRock U-COP technology, boot failure guard, and ASRock Instant Boot. The ASRock U-COP technology provides the G31M-S with a safety feature, that limits or stops the damage caused by an overheating CPU.

The boot failure guard is a type of restore feature, which allows a user to issue a safe boot-up mode if the assembled computer fails to boot correctly. The ASRock Instant Boot technology lets an installed operating system boot-up far faster than what would be normal. It also helps conserve power. When compared to another motherboard by ASRock, the ConRoeXFire-eSATA2, the G31-MS has some small advantages, including a larger capacity for RAM (8GB versus 4GB).
