Apple iPhone 4S

$650.00 Released October, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Upgraded to dual-core A5 CPU. Improved 8 megapixel camera capable of shooting video in 1080p HD, and great low-light performance. Futuresque, voice-activated digital assistant named "Siri" only available on 4S.

The Cons:No user-removable/replaceable battery. MicroSIM card is very uncommon, impossible to travel with or swap card with another phone. Not a revolutionary upgrade over iPhone 4.

Product Shot 2 Available in black and white color options just like its predecessor, the 4S adds a 64GB storage option in addition to the existing 16 and 32GB capacities. Retaining the 3.5-inch IPS retina display, the unit's rear-facing camera has been upgraded from 5 to 8 megapixels with an f/2.4 aperture lens for brighter, bolder shots. Video recording quality has been boosted to full 1080p from the previous 720p standard, with 30 frames-per-second rendering added to the iPhone's front-facing VGA camera. The inclusion of a dual-core A5 processing chip provides a considerable boost in computing performance, nearly doubling the phone's graphical support for the improvement of videos and applications alike. Perhaps most notable amongst the 4S feature set is the addition of the Siri voice assistant, an intelligent software peripheral that responds to questions and commands prompting call and text support, maps and weather information, scheduling, directions and more. Running the fifth-generation of Apple's iOS platform, the unit also introduces iCloud online content storage for instant wireless access to the user's music, photos and documents.

Erik: #apple_iphone_4s I'm always skeptical of voice commands. "Txt my wife I'll be home in 30 minutes." "NOOO, don't delete all email from wife from the last 30 days...AAHH..."

However, I must admit that Siri looks pretty good. I'm nervous it's almost too good. Txting while driving will definitely be on the rise. Oct 6, 11

dom: I wouldn't mind playing around with Siri, apparently the responses can be quite humorous :-)
Got excited when Android got the voice commands, but after a few times playing around I've rarely ever used them. The only time is in the car.... otherwise, it's too socially awkward. I'm basically never going to send a text or do a search on anything if there's any remote chance of someone hearing me. Makes me feel like a total dork. Nov 29, 11

    Erik: Haha true, @dom
Sometime I use Android voice commands to send a txt, Kik or GTalk while walking in a parking lot. I ensure no one is within earshot that way. Nov 29, 11
